This is a fast-paced 60-minute workout consisting of a 9-minute warm-up, 10 mini step combo's alternated with 10 interval blasts, and a cool down complete with a stretch. For the most part, each step combo will be familiar moves put together in a refreshing way. A couple of new moves will be mixed in here and there to keep you on your toes. Keeping with tradition, the 32 count step combo's will each be repeated 6 times before moving into the intensity blasts. The intensity blasts are at times longer than the step combo's themselves. Each blast consists of a combination of about 2 to 3 intense moves (per blast) that repeats itself about 4 times (per blast) and gradually brings you to your lactate threshold. You will find that all the blasts vary in length and intensity keeping your muscles challenged and inspired. To really up the overall challenge, we have even reduced the recovery time between some of the "milder" intervals. A cool-down will follow the last blast and then a relaxing stretch will complete the workout.

Music by BK Howe Productions. A mix of mostly recognizable top 40, dance, and club music. Just as in Low Max, both instrumental and lyrical mixes make this upbeat and energetic soundtrack a perfect compliment to the workout.

This is the Mount Everest of Cathe videos — peak Cathe. I did this for the first time when I was about 25 years old and in pretty great shape. It was hard then! And Cathe is 12 years older than I am. I can’t even imagine trying this one today. But it’s a goal. I’ll keep training and getting fitter and keeping my eye on this as a personal best. It’s not hard, conceptually. But it builds and builds until you are almost stratospheric. You better eat your Wheaties and watch your feet. This one will getcha.

We have almost all of Cathe's productions, but did not purchase IMAX3 due to reviews saying it was one of Cathe's toughest & highest impact & we were too intimidated to even consider it. But I love the other IMAX workouts & so recently purchased IMAX3. Yes, it is hard, but can be modified if you're used to modifying Cathe's other high impact workouts. And if the intensity is too high, lower your step height (or don't use the step), or shorten the workout or skip some of the blasts... it's still fun!

I have tons of Cathe's DVDs. I even have several VHS tapes from the 1980s. I love them all. Imax 3 is challenging and a fantastic workout. It really makes you think and really makes you sweat! As a retired fitness instructor, I think Cathe is the best!!!!!

I've been doing this one for years. It's one I enjoy doing, but it doesn't get easier. In fact, as I get older it gets harder. I did it yesterday and the jumping jacks on and off the step nearly did me in. They were always hard but almost impossible yesterday. My knees creek a lot more and my ankle after surgery is a little wonky. But if you can handle high impact, this workout never gets boring. The music is great. Get a good night's rest though before.

I started doing IMAX 3 when I realized how overweight I was after having my baby. It had been a long time since I had done a step aerobic workout so I started with this one. WOW!! I loved it....I haven't mastered it yet, but I am always up for a challenge. IMAX 3 is helping shed some pounds and allowing me to take my fitness to another level!!

I am so thrilled, I have done Imax 3 two times in the past week. I have to admit, I was always a little intimidated by this DVD, I thought the choreography was going to be way too hard for me to learn, but I did it! I watched it a few times before trying it and what I did was do the step combo premix only so I could learn the combos and not worry about the blasts. That premix is only about 30 minutes, so I set aside a longer cardio workout time and just kept backing up the combos that gave me trouble, soon enough I pretty much mastered them all. Then last Saturday I decided it was time to do the whole thing. What a workout! I was soaked by the end. There are 10 step combos that alternate with 10 high impact, high energy blasts. The combos are easy to learn and don't consist of a lot of moves and since they repeat six times you have a good chance to watch it and learn it. The blasts will get your heart pumping big time. I love it!

This workout was definently intense! This is my 7th Cathe DVD, and it completely kicked my butt the first time I did it, and has been doing so ever since. Never have I looked forward to the 'resting' step phases in between the blasts, then with this DVD. If you need a challenge or to kick things up, this is the DVD for you. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners to exercise, or those who cannot do high impact workouts. Love Cathe! Thanks for this DVD.

now, this is the kind of cathe workout that i LOVE! even though i haven't mastered it by any means, it provides a constant cardio challenge, which i love. the music is awesome, too! fun, intense...it just doesn't get any better than this. the premixes are great for those who are crunched for time.
