I love that Cathe is one of the very few women in the industry who actually encourage women to lift heavy weights and push themselves to the limit. However, I would only recommend this dvd for an absolute beginner who has no experience whatsoever in lifting weights. I would still recommend heavier weights because you need enough weight to challenge your muscles. Cardio isn't bad though.

I love this dvd and step. You can add risers to increase the intensity and she does plenty of variation for an all over workout. At first I thought the video was going to be cheesy but its a great workout and she encourages you at all the right moments. Enjoy working out to this one that I plan to purchase the higher intensity dvd.

Gets the heart rate up

While performing the exercises on this dvd, I wear heart monitor. I am 55 years old and a breast cancer survivor who is just getting back in shape. I used to use the advanced high step video when in better shape, but now I'm just getting back in shape and my heart rate stayed between 148-158 while exercising and I was sore especially in the glutes. I enjoyed this workout and am going to give it as a gift to my daughter for her birthday.

Another DVD to love!

I recently went back to using the beg/intermediate DVDs due to an injury w/ my hips and was in love with this DVD! I tried it today for the first time and was amazed at just how much of a workout I got. I went a little light in weights, but still got all my muscles burning and shaking! Add some heavier weights and ankle weights to this for a killer workout! This is going to be on my "new favorites" list! Thanks Cathe, this DVD targets the entire body and especially the legs! WOW, Loved it and forgot just how much I love working out with Cathe!

tons of fun

This workout is tons of fun and can be worked up or down in intensity depending on what weights you use and your approach to it. It is definitely not advanced. I like a "short circuit" like this on days when time is tight or I am coming back from a workout hiatus for some reason. I had so much fun doing this I immediately ordered high step training to get more of a challenge for when I want one. BTW buying the high step is well worth it. The high step is very stable and very adjustable, and is useful in lots of other Cathe videos that have lower body work.
